German Kabirski's work in this space is defined by original setting methods developed specifically to hold smaller, harder raw stones such as sapphire, spinel, ruby, garnet, tsavorite, spessartite, chrysoberyl, and chrome diopside without cutting away their natural edges. Building a secure setting around a stone that hasn't been shaped to a standard size or facet pattern requires solving a slightly different structural problem with almost every piece, which is where much of the creative and technical work in this collection comes from.

Because the gemstone's shape is fixed by geology and the metalwork carries the marks of individual hand-shaping, every finished piece in this collection exists as a single, non-repeatable object.
