Tessella Singular Edition Rough Pink Spinel Mosaic Silver Pendant

Tessella is a singular-edition pendant made in German Kabirski's own stained glass technique: rough pink spinels, uncut and unenhanced, exactly the shape they came out of the ground, each wrapped in a thin wall of sterling silver and joined to the next like panes in a cathedral window. Nothing here is set into a mount — the pendant is the stones, held together by black rhodium-plated silver lines that read like the lead in a mosaic. It's a piece of contemporary art jewelry that belongs in a museum case as comfortably as it does on a chain, and the technique exists nowhere else because nobody else thought of it.
