Opus Singular Edition Natural Raw Chrysoberyl Mosaic Silver Pendant

The old mosaic-makers called a finished work an opus, and German Kabirski borrowed the word for this pendant because the technique is the same idea, only with gemstones. Rough chrysoberyl crystals — yellow-green, unpolished, still in the shape they had underground — are each wrapped in sterling silver and fused into a single piece, so the pendant is made of stones rather than around one. He calls this method stained glass, and plated in 18K gold the silver seams glow warm between the crystals like lead in a lit window. It would sit quite happily in a gallery vitrine next to the mosaics it's named after.

Opus wants an owner, not a buyer. Because nothing about the chrysoberyl has been heated, treated or tidied, it carries whatever charge it had in the rock, and it uses it to size people up — art-first, freedom-first, no interest in fitting in. Fail that test and it stays on the page. Pass it, and know that German made a single one, so the conversation ought to happen now.
