Vitrea Singular Edition Natural Raw Chrome Diopside Mosaic Silver Pendant

Chrome diopside owes its colour to chromium, the same element that turns emerald green, and in good crystals the result is a forest-deep, almost bottomless green with a flash of brightness inside it that faceted stones rarely manage. It's one of the quietly remarkable gemstones — glassy, saturated, and still far less known than its colour deserves. German Kabirski took the crystals exactly as mined, unpolished and untreated, wrapped each in sterling silver and joined them into a single mosaic in his stained glass technique, so Vitrea is built from green rather than decorated with it. The silver is plated in black rhodium, which turns the seams into dark lead lines, with a gold-plated bail as the one warm note. Vitrea means glassy in Latin, and held to a window this pendant behaves exactly like a fragment of medieval glazing.
