Watermelon tourmaline grows with a pink-to-red core and a green rind in the same crystal, and the only honest way to show it is to saw straight across and leave the section alone. That's what happened here. The slice keeps its full natural outline and everything inside it — bubbles, hairline fractures, small voids, the soft colour boundary where red gives way to green — with no polishing or trimming to tidy the picture. It sits on a sterling silver band plated in black ruthenium, and a thin line of gold runs up to it like a stem holding a flower, which is roughly what the piece looks like from a step back.
