This pendant is named after Lilitu - the ancient Mesopotamian spirit of the untamed, a figure who moved between worlds and answered to no one. The stone at its center is an authentic ancient amulet, carved from steatite, part of a group of nine amulets rooted in Near Eastern apotropaic traditions of the first millennium BCE. A zoomorphic figure - animal in motion, power in profile - is rendered in low relief on its surface, schematic and deliberate. This carving was made not for display, but for protection. The wear, the softened lines, the earth still held in the stone's texture - all of it is real, all of it is time. Sourced from a private European collection, acquired on the art market in the late 20th century. Set in 925 sterling silver plated with black ruthenium and 18K gold, with a natural oval cabochon aquamarine - pale as still water, long associated with clarity, calm, and safe passage.
